Using Settings

Settings are the parameters used when saving an output file, such as the number of colours in a GIF file or the quality of a JPEG file.

You can store settings you find useful to easily create new output files with those settings. You can delete settings, rename settings and change the default settings Ignite uses for new GIF, JPEG, PNG and WBMP output files.

Settings are especially useful when you find yourself making the same type of image over and over again and they all have to be the same. For example, all GIFs for a certain web site need to use the same palette and bit depth with a web snap palette set to 90% and dithering at 50%.

Instead of having to configure all these settings each time you create a new file for this project, simply store the settings for the first image, and give them the name of your web project. Next time you need to create a new GIF for this web site use the New from settings command from the Outputs menu to create a new output file based on saved settings, or use the Apply settings command to apply your settings to an existing outputs file.

Settings can save you a lot of time and speed up your work flow.
